This project, currently in its design stages, entails extensive alterations to the Main Muizenberg campus of False Bay College. In the past, the building has accommodated a variety of functions (including a shopping centre) and so lacks the advantages of purpose-built structures. A thorough internal and external rebranding was required as the building in its current form is not entirely suited to its dual-function as educational facility and institutional head office. The reconfigured interior spaces are focused around a covered central student courtyard from where lecture rooms, administrative block, media centre and canteen radiate. The interiors are bright and airy, whilst the exterior treatment of the building takes its cue from the refreshed False Bay College corporate branding. New passive climate control measures are being introduced to mitigate the effects of large expanses of west facing glazing.
