House Nicola Knight, De WaterkantResidential

A holiday house for a British-based couple on a very small urban site measuring 5 meters by 21 meters, (within an Urban Conservation area). This compact design facilitates the intensive use of the sleek interior spaces, while revealing a sense of airy spaciousness. Views over the harbour as well as back towards Table Mountain are maximized. It has received both an Award of Commendation from the Cape Institute of Architecture in 2005 and a national Merit Award from the South African Institute of Architects in 2006. This house has also been published extensively, including in the book “10 years + 100 buildings- architecture in a democratic South Africa” by Prof. ‘OraJoubert.
